climate change / polar bear

In 2009, an environmental acitivist friend of mine had the chance to go to Copenhagen and join the world government meetings and talks on climate change. She ask me to design a tshirt for her to wear so i design a tshirt for her and the image stuck with me and i painted it from time to time in art events, on walls and in some interviews i explain that not much has been discussed in local media on climate change and the action or strategy or resolutions towards it. So here are some images and timeline on the polar bear standing on the last melting block of ice while searching for another ice block or land , i titled this image 'emigrate' but later i remembered 1 of Megadeth song titled 'Countdown to extinction' which could be the title and then i remembered one of Nofx song lyrics 'extinction never felt so good' from the song 'Dinosaurs will die' that could be the title of this polar bear illustrations so, those are the 3 titles 'Emigrate', 'Countdown to extinction' and 'Extinction never felt so good' or maybe one more 'apati' in the case of malaisean society towards climate change issues.

Photo above taken at Gokkaigijidomae station, where every Friday, so many type people, artists, musicians, writers, guerilla kitchen, grandmothers & grandfathers are coming here to have peaceful demonstration on the nuclear plant or "Genpatshu". Right now at the moment, there are talks about Lynas dumping toxic waste in malaisea as well.

Today went to community center akta to interview Yusuke san, he's the only out gay person in a d-beat,crust punk band in Japan(Unarm) and i went to his band's gig before and because he design the band's tshirt, record/cd cover and flyer design, but before that me and Akama san went to Karaoke in Shinjuku to kill 1 hour while waiting for our friend Chaunceysan, so yea its my first time karaoke-ing in Japan.
I was told it's the cheapest in Shinjuku. 1 hour 200¥ and surprisingly they have bands like Bad Religion about 10 songs in there, but i sang 2, Supersonic like my previous post and New Dark Ages.
First i chose typical karaoke song like No Doubt-Spiderwebs, Sex Pistols-God save the queen, Bangles-Walk like an Egyptian then out of curiosity i try to search Bad Religion and wallah, about 10 songs, and then Moby, Garbage & David Bowie, but manage to sing only Starman as me and Akama san switch turn to sing within 1 hour. Of course i don't Karaoke but it was very satisfying screaming out of tune to all these songs that you won't find in malaisea karaoke....Bad Religion-Supersonic, - New Dark Ages, Moby - South Side, Garbage - Cherry Lips, David Bowie - Starman.
Back in malaisea, i usually tag along friends and sing typical radio friendly commercial songs but it was an amazing experience. Later i ask Akama san we should do it again. Lol...

when i listen to this song i can't help picturing captain Picard saying engage on my head and they were listening to this song on the deck while on lightspeed, but in actuality the song is more on the incapable or coping with the velocity of human insatiable desire or growth on earth..

Earlier today i went to to community center akta and set up the exhibition. Its going to be around 2 weeks till 29th. Someone at the gallery cried after seeing the illustrations and further explained about the transwomen issues in malaisea. I'm glad the messege reach the audience here. Yokatta ne~
